The first thing to try if your Chromebook will not turn on is a Hard Reset.

This process will also reset your Chromebook hardware and could fix hardware issues you may be experiencing such as keyboard, touchpad, sound, WiFi, etc.

Follow these steps:

  1. Plugin and leave on the charger for at least 30 minutes (this step can be skipped if the Chromebook is fully charged).

  2. Unplug your Chromebook.

  3. Press and hold the Refresh key (above the 4 key) and tap the Power button (like you are turning it on).

  4. Continue to hold the Refresh key and wait up to 10 seconds to see if it turns on.

  5. When the Chrome logo with a white background displays on the screen, release Refresh

  6. If the Chromebook does not turn on, plug in your Chromebook, and try the hard reset again.
